Engineering scam: BJP leader seeks more time

Local BJP leader C G Rajagopal, who was summoned by Ernakulam South police for interrogation in connection with the engineering admissions scam, has sought more time to appear before the investigation team.

According to police, Mr. Rajagopal has sought two days time to appear before the investigation team. The person, who contested the assembly elections of 2011 from Ernakulam as a BJP candidate, was asked to appear on Thursday.

The party leader is now expected to turn up for interrogation on Sunday. After serving a notice on the BJP leader regarding the interrogation, the investigation team had examined details of his bank accounts and other properties.

Meanwhile, police said that they have summoned one Manoj Meleth, who allegedly had connections with key accused Jayesh J Kumar. The investigation team has served a notice on Manoj to appear for interrogation on Sunday.
