The police have made elaborate security arrangements to facilitate the smooth conduct of the annual Makam Thozhal festival at Chottanikkara on March 1.

According to an official statement, a 750-member police team headed by four deputy superintendents and 11 circle inspectors will be coordinating the security arrangements. The team will also comprise 100 sub-inspectors and 200 woman officers.

A police control room that will function round-the-clock has been set up at the temple and CCTV cameras have been installed at 50 locations.

A medical team and a fire and rescue team have been deployed to meet any contingencies, in addition to a quick response team and a commando unit.

Cops in plain clothes have been deployed to monitor pickpockets. A special squad has been formed to check goon activity in the area.

The public have been requested to follow the police’ directions to avoid heavy rush.
