DYFI takes out march to DLF’s Kakkanad site

July 08, 2014 11:06 am | Updated 11:08 am IST - KOCHI

A march taken out by DYFI activists on Monday against the alleged land encroachment by the DLF group in Kakkanad ended up in a minor clash between the protesters and the police.

The march began around 11 pm from the premises of Special Economic Zone and was blocked when it reached near the site of a residential project initiated by the company. An altercation between the police and the activists followed and protestors staged a sit-in on the road.

Meanwhile, DYFI alleged that one of their activists sustained minor injuries during a clash with the police and was admitted to a private hospital in the city. The police, however, denied the allegation and said that the protestors had actually tried to break the blockade.
