‘Drunk' KSRTC bus driver held

A driver of a KSRTC bus was arrested by City Traffic Police, after passengers complained of drunk driving. V.P. Mani, 54, of Kodikulam in Thodupuzha was arrested at Kundanoor Junction while driving the bus operating in the Aluva-Cherthala route. The police said that he was heavily drunk. He was subjected to medical examination and a case was registered after which he was let off on bail.

One more dead

One more person died in the accident that occurred on Sunday at Udayamperoor. K.R. Sheeja, 45, wife of Ajayakumar of Mangalath House was admitted to Medical Trust Hospital here after the accident.

Her husband Ajayakumar, 53, and his brother's son Anantha Vishnu, 23, were killed in the accident. Traffic Police arrested Hanish, 23, of Poothotta, who drove the tipper truck that hit the Nano car driven by Anantha Vishnu. The car was caught between the tipper and an SUV coming from behind.

Held for gambling

Three persons were arrested on charges of gambling. The police had put houses at Kunneparambil Lane at Vazhakkala under observation after receiving information that certain people were playing cards for money at rented houses on holidays.

During the surveillance it was found that Thaha, 37, had moved into the house a couple of days ago and this house was being used for gambling. Following this, the police held surprise check there on Sunday night and arrested Manoj, 32, and Shihab, 29, along with Thaha and seized Rs. 11,060 from them.

Pirated CDs

Salim, 32, of Nalakath House, Kaipamangalam in Thrissur was arrested on charges of selling pirated CDs of newly released films and transferring pornographic material to memory cards of mobile phones. About 2,000 pirated CDs were seized from him.
