Ernakulam district has topped the State in the higher secondary examination results published on Wednesday with a pass percentage of 84.82.
It also notched up impressive records in the vocational higher secondary and technical school results. In the vocational higher secondary category (part I and part II), the district secured a pass percentage of 91.19 while in the other category including part III, it was 85.12 per cent. The district registered a pass percentage of 93.86 in technical school results.
However, the pass percentage in the higher secondary exam in the district has come down from 90.85 per cent last year. While 28,312 students had registered for higher secondary exams in 176 schools in the district, 28,243 wrote the examinations. Of this 23,955 students won eligibility for higher studies. The district has 465 students who managed A plus in all subjects. Six schools managed 100 per cent success - St. Mary’s GHSS, Ernakulam; Rajagiri HSS, Kalamassery; Nirmala HSS, Muvattupuzha; St. Anns HSS, Eloor; Vidyadhiraja Vidya Bhavan HSS, Aluva; and St. Claire Oral School for the Deaf, Manickamangalam. Of the 2,224 students who appeared for vocational higher secondary exams in the district, 2,028 students cleared part I and part II while 1,893 among them cleared all three parts. Four schools registered 100 per cent success.
Students clearing part I and II are eligible for jobs whereas only those who clear all three parts are eligible for both job and higher studies.
Of 456 students who appeared in the technical school category, 428 passed. Twenty-four students registered A plus in all subjects.
Of 6,159 who appeared under the open school category, only 2,072 qualified for higher studies.
