District packs a punch with yoga

The 350-odd mechanical workers at the KSRTC regional workshop at Aluva do various exercises.

For 350-odd mechanical workers at the KSRTC regional workshop at Aluva, it was a different start to the day on Tuesday.

They performed various exercises as they observed International Yoga Day with the rest of the world. The class was led by Works Manager M.V. Manoj.

Employees of the Cochin Port Trust performed mass yoga exercise at Samudrika Convention Centre. Veteran yoga trainer Johny Jose, an employee of CPT, led the demonstration. Union Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilizers Hansraj Gangaram Ahir was the chief guest at the celebrations organised by FACT held at MKK Nayar Hall. At the Kochi Refinery, executive director Prasad K. Panicker inaugurated the celebrations.

District Ayurveda Hospital observed the day with chief medical officer C.B. Sajeev Kumar delivering the Yoga Day message.

A yoga camp for Naval personnel and their families was conducted at Naval Base, Kochi. Vice Admiral A.R. Karve, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Naval Command, participated in the camp attended by over 800 persons.

Central Excise Commissioner of Kochi Reshma Lakhani and staff of the Cochin Commissionerate attended the yoga session conducted by Beena Manoj, a faculty at the Art of Living Foundation, Ernakulam chapter.
