The Thammanam-Pullepady road is among the worst maintained roads in the city.

Faced with public outcry about the shabby condition of arterial and side roads, the district administration has asked the Public Works Department (PWD) to speed up the repair of severely-potholed arterial roads in the city and its immediate suburbs. “We have directed PWD (Roads wing) to restore Park Avenue Road stretching from Broadway to Rajendra Maidan, and High Court-Goshree Road before Onam, since lakhs of commuters endure a gruelling ride through them each day,” District Collector K.Mohammed Y. Safirulla told The Hindu .

They are among the 36 road corridors that must be partially or fully restored at the earliest, he said. “Twenty of these are owned by the Kochi Corporation and 14 by PWD, while two are being maintained by Kochi Metro Rail Limited. I convened a meeting with PWD officials, while another meeting with representatives of the Kochi Corporation will be held within two days. On its part, the Greater Cochin Development Authority has been asked to urgently repair damaged parts of K.K. Road, in and around Kathrikadavu,” he said.
