Parents of a flight attendant who was found dead here has alleged that he was murdered. Mohammed Equbal, working with Jet Airways, was found dead after he fell from his room at seventh floor of Lord Krishna Apartments near Nedumbassery Airport on April 15. He belonged to Ranchi in Jharkhand.
Police officers who investigated the case said evidence pointed to accidental fall. The room in which the Equbal stayed was locked from inside, police sources said.
However, Mohammed Yusuf, father of the deceased, who addressed the media here on Friday said he and wife Zohra Khatoon arrived the next day. They became suspicious because of the haste in which some of the friends of Equbal tried to make them leave. They also alleged that the police did not respond positively to their demand.
The parents of Equbal said he was not suffering from depression and there was no cause for him to commit suicide. They also cited information that their son was threatened by some of his colleagues. They have now written to the State Police Chief and Superintendent of Police, Ernakulam Rural demanding re-investigation into the case.
Police sources said the couple had only raised vague allegations against the security personnel at the apartments where the accident occurred and against those who worked with Equbal. They added that the post-mortem examination results are still awaited.
