Communist Party of India (Marxist) leaders P. Jayarajan and M.V. Jayarajan on Saturday visited Karai Rajan and Karai Chandrasekharan, who have been arrested in connection with the Fazal murder case, at the District Jail where they have been housed. The leaders arrived at the jail at around 12.15 p.m. and spent nearly 15 minutes with the imprisoned leaders. They also talked to B. Sunil Kumar, Superintendent of District Jail.

Karai Rajan, Kannur district secretary of the CPI(M), and Karai Chandrasekharan, Thiruvangad local committee secretary, had been arrested in connection with the murder of Mohammed Fazal, an activist of the National Development Front in 2006.

The CBI, which is probing the case, had secured custody of the two from the Ernakulam Chief Judicial Magistrate on Friday after it agreed to the contention that interrogation of the accused was required for collecting information about two unidentified persons and the motorcycle used by the assailants.

However, the Kerala High Court stayed the order later in the day and returned the two to the district jail.
