Counting to begin at 8 a.m. tomorrow

Counting of votes for the 14 Assembly constituencies in Ernakulam district will begin at 8 a.m. on Thursday.

Election officials are busy completing all preparations at the various counting centres. The centre at M.A. College in Kothamangalam is ready for counting with all arrangements having been put in place. The preparations at all the other centres will be over by Wednesday night. The initial trends will be out by the first hour of counting. The election wing has ensured the timely and speedy declaration of results in various constituencies.

Poll equipment

All polling-related equipment has been kept sealed in strongrooms. Security and surveillance have been stepped up in all centres storing the electronic voting machines. Personnel of the State and Central police force will guard the strongrooms and ensure a peaceful counting process. The counting centres within the city are Ernakulam Maharaja’s College, Govt. Girls’ Higher Secondary School and SRV Higher Secondary School.

The other counting centres for the constituencies are: Perumbavoor – GHSS, Perumbavoor; Angamaly and Aluva – U. C. College; Kalamassery and Paravur – Sreenarayana HS, Pullamkulam; Vypin and Kochi – Town Hall, Mattancherry; Thripunithura – Maharaja’s College; Ernakulam – SRV HSS; Thrikkakara – Govt. Girls’ UP School, Ernakulam; Kunnathunadu – Asramam HSS, Perumbavoor; Piravom – Nirmala Junior School, Muvattupuzha; Muvattupuzha – Nirmala HS, Muvattupuzha; Kothamangalam – M. A. College.

The Department of Public Relations has introduced ‘prdlive’ mobile app to get the results of the contests in the 140 segments in the State. The results will be updated regularly through the mobile application.
