Container Terminal Road turns dump yard

April 12, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 07:37 am IST - KOCHI:

In what is proving to be a never ending menace for local residents, big sacks full of waste were found dumped at the Vallarpadam Container Terminal Road apparently in the cover of night a couple of days back.

As many as 13 sacks of wastes had been found dumped at the northern end of Mulavukad. Old goods made of leather and plastic like footwear, bags and bottles were found inside the sacks.

Container Terminal Road has become a dumping yard with the road largely deserted and unlit during nights. The problem is particularly severe at Moolampilly, Kothad, Cheranalloor, and Manjummal areas. Kitchen and even toilet waste had been found dumped in the area in the past.

Though the police have beefed up patrolling in the area, the more canny dumpers still seem to have a trick to get on with the illegal dumping as the latest incident indicates.
