The family of Ashraf, who committed suicide on May 30, lodged a complaint with the Kalamassery police on Wednesday. He allegedly took his life after his name falsely figured in the list of accused in a case registered for assault on Thammanam Shaji and six others on May 24. It is learnt that the family has accused two leaders of the CPI(M) and CITU of abetment charges in the complaint.
Ashraf, a member of the CITU and a headload worker, ended his life after party leaders allegedly refused to strike off his name from the list.
His relatives alleged that the leaders wanted Ashraf to surrender before the Palarivattom police.
