CM opens IRIA meet

Chief Minister Oommen Chandy inaugurated the 68th annual conference of the Indian Radiological and Imaging Association (IRIA) here on Thursday.

“The technology, which has emerged today as one of the key elements in providing diagnostic evidence, is much in demand today. The technology that used to give the West an advantage is now available here too,” said the Chief Minister. 

Earlier, Minister for Health V.S. Sivakumar, who addressed the gathering, said PET scan, which was one of the latest equipment in radiology, was soon going to be installed at the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College.

Mr. Sivakumar released the souvenir of the conference. Dr. M.K.C. Nair, Vice Chancellor of the Kerala University of Health Sciences, released the handbook on radiology.

The scientific sessions of the IRIA conference began earlier on the day at Hotel Le Meridian. 

The meeting had brought about 3,000 delegates to the city over the past few days.

Dr. Bhavin Jankharia presided over the event. Dr. Jignesh Thakker was installed as the new president. Dr.K. Mohan, Dr. Rajesh Kapur, Dr. O.P. Bansal, Dr. P.C. Shaji, Dr.V. Varadaraj and Dr.T.M. Vijayan spoke on the occasion.
