Chief Minister Oommen Chandy visits Sreejesh at his home in Kizhakkambalam on Monday.

: After the rousing reception on his arrival back home, P.R. Sreejesh, hero of the Indian Hockey team in their win over Pakistan in Asian games 2014, had a special visitor on Monday to commend him.

Chief Minister Oommen Chandy along with V.P. Sajeendran and Benny Behanan MLAs visited Sreejesh’s home in Kochi and congratulated him on the great feat. The chief Minister also promised to facilitate Sreejesh’s return to Kerala by offering him a job.

“I will take up this case during the Cabinet meeting on Wednesday and take a final decision after consultations with Sreejesh as well,” Mr. Chandy announced, sending the crowd into raptures.

Thanking the State government for the offer, Sreejesh said this would help him support the efforts towards reviving the game in Kerala.

“I have been working outside the State for the last eight years and will not mind a slight reduction in salary if given a chance to work here. I will be happier if I am given a chance to do something for the game, especially if it is in my home State,” Sreejesh said.

Local MLA Sajeendran announced that the proposed Kizhakambalam-Kunnathunadu bypass that is astride Sreejesh’s home will be named after him. The road, costing Rs. 2.30 crore, is under construction.
