KOCHI: All police stations in the city will now have public relations officers (PROs) as part of efforts to improve relations between the public and the police.

People could avail the services of specially-trained PROs to lodge complaints or to seek the services offered by the department. The services will be available round-the-clock. M. Rameshkumar, Assistant Commissioner, Kochi City District Crime Branch, will co-ordinate with the PROs.

The officers will follow up complaints lodged by the public and take necessary action to provide relief to the needy. The PROs will help the illiterate, physically-challenged, elderly, women, and children to draft complaints. They will also ensure that each complainant receives a copy of the first information report (FIR).
