The civic authorities are racing against the deadline for completing repair of roads and beautifying the city ahead of the Emerging Kerala summit. Cleaning of pathways and removal of unauthorised hoardings and flexes has also started.

The health and the engineering departments of the Kochi Corporation are working together with the Public Works Department for beautifying the city, said Soumini Jain, chairperson of the Works Standing Committee of the corporation.

The patching work of potholed roads has started.

Tarring can happen only when rain subsides.

The civic administration hopes to complete its task within three days, she said.
