: Buoyed by the solidarity expressed by its sister unions in other sectors, the CITU-affiliated Association of IT Employees (AITE) is set to stage a protest in front of Infopark on Tuesday evening against employee layoffs from the TCS’ Kochi campus.

CPI(M) district secretary P. Rajeev, MP, will inaugurate the protest. Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, AITE State general secretary A.D. Jayan said that the association will persist with its protests till its demand for reinstatement of employees already laid off and suspension of further job cuts are met by the company management.

CITU State secretary K. Chandran Pillai said that there was no transparency in the highly subjective performance assessment, based on which the company had acted. The protest comes a day ahead of a meeting of stakeholders convened by the Regional Joint Labour Commissioner to discuss the issue.
