The director board of Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) chaired by the new company chairman and Kerala Chief minister Oommen Chandy has decided to probe the recruitments made by the airport company during the last four years.
Sub-committee formed
For this the board has formed a five member sub-committee of directors led by the Minister of Ports and Airports K. Babu
Top company sources say the body is mandated to verify a report on the subject prepared by the company auditors.
It will look into the appointments and promotions made during the period and will submit its findings in the next board meeting.
The move by CIAL to make fresh appointments had landed into a controversy after two of the major employee unions — the CITU affiliated Cochin International Airport Staff Federation and the INTUC affiliated Cochin International Airport staff association — accused the airport company of deviating from its recruitment and promotion policy.
Corruption alleged
The step had also drawn flak from the CIAL minority shareholders who alleged large-scale corruption behind the exercise.
