Chief Minister Oommen Chandy will meet the Prime Minister along with a delegation to seek aid for the expansion projects at Fertilizers and Chemicals Travancore (FACT).
The decision was taken following a high-level meeting chaired by the Chief Minister on the issues of development and expansion programmes of FACT.
A statement by the district information office said the issues would be taken up during the winter session of Parliament after the delegation comprising Union Minister of State for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution K. V. Thomas, MPs from the State and other leaders in the Centre present the issues before the Prime Minister and other Union Ministers.
The aim is to get the sanction for aid for Rs.8,000-crore projects at FACT. This includes waiving of a Rs.441 crore loan and the interest, granting of Rs.300 crore loan and a one-time support of Rs.250 crore.
Mr. Thomas informed the meeting that he had discussed the issue of Plan share of Rs.221 crore for FACT with P. Chidambaram, Union Finance Minister. The Chief Minister has also said that the government will consider removing VAT on LNG used by FACT for five years .This was following requests by the FACT management.
