The State government does not have a second opinion on the Kochi Metro Rail project and wants the DMRC to implement it, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy has said.
Speaking to mediapersons here on the sidelines of the valedictory of the 125 anniversary of the Archdiocese of Varapuzha here on Sunday, he said he would meet Urban Development and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kamal Nath and Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit to speed up the handing over of the works to the DMRC.
“The project was conceptualised in 2004, when the UDF was ruling the State and we wanted the DMRC to execute the project.
“The present deadlock arose because of the decision taken by the DMRC’s Director Board that its permission is required for undertaking metro projects outside Delhi,” Mr. Chandy said.
