Work on the unique identification number registration process in the district was reviewed here at a meeting convened by the Information Technology Secretary P. H. Kurien.

The District Collector; Additional District Magistrate B. Ramachandran; project director Vinodini and officials attended the meeting.

Registration for obtaining the unique identification number can be done at approved enrolment centres run by Akshaya and Keltron at different locations, the press release said.

Mr. Kurien said that initially pension payment and payment of wages for those engaged in the rural employment guarantee scheme will be done on the basis of the Aadhar card. Soon other benefits will also be routed through banks using the Aadhar card.
