The Kadavanthra police on Sunday arrested a youth in a chain-snatching attempt case near Panampilly Nagar. Jackson Peter, 22, a resident of Kambanippadi, near Chellanam, was arrested after he tried to snatch the gold chain of a woman when she was walking along the Fathima Church Road at Jawahar Nagar. The youth had used a two-wheeler stolen from the area to commit the crime.
After the attempt failed, Jackson was caught by the people in the area and handed over to the police. The police have registered two separate cases against the youth for bike theft and chain-snatching attempt.
The accused was produced before a magistrate and remanded in custody.
