G. Sivarajan, Chairman of the State Commission for Backward Classes, has said that caste organisations were not really cooperating with the commission that’s working for the uplift of Backward Classes.

He said these organisations were poorly represented at a fact-finding sitting held by the commission on complaints about representation of the backward sections in labour and in professional colleges.

The government was recognising and implementing the recommendations of the commission, formed at the instruction of the Supreme Court.

'Resolving lacunae'

Mr. Sivarajan said organisations were not really forthcoming in presenting before it the needs of the backward sections in a representative fashion.

“The commission is now trying to resolve lacunae in the OBC list for job reservation and SEBC list for reservation in education,” he said.
