: Over 625 applications seeking assistance under the district administration’s Santhwanam project to extend palliative care to the terminally-ill were resolved at the adalat held at Palluruthy on Monday.
Excise Minister K. Babu, who inaugurated the programme, said that the initiative has helped the government to provide timely care and assistance to the common man.
“It also helps the government take its welfare measures to the needy. District Collectors get an opportunity to interact with the patients and understand their problems at the adalats,” he said.
District Collector M. G. Rajamanickam led the adalat and interacted with the applicants. Ajmal, and Althaf, who were suffering from cerebral palsy, received an assistance of Rs. 50,000. Enosh, a differently-abled child, who came to the venue with parents received assistance for his treatment. Lindamol, a differently-abled youngster, got an assistance of Rs. 50,000. She gifted her painting to the District Collector on the occasion. Five differently-abled persons received identity cards at the adalat. Saigal, 60, who was severely injured in an accident, got a three-wheeler. Monikka Moli, who was suffering from breast cancer, had the benefit of converting her above povery line ration card to below poverty line category at the venue.
