Selected members of Café Kudumbashree from across the State are on a tour of nations in the Gulf to participate in food festivals and showcase traditional food from the State.

The menu is long considering that at least three chefs from a district were selected to participate in the festival. Each member tagged with at least one speciality is part of the team, though most of them are adept at churning out at least three to four special dishes.

A total of about 50 members, of which about 40 form the core team of chefs will dish out tapioca and fish curry, pidi and chicken, appam and stew, puttu and kadala and variety of traditional snacks.

This is the first time that Kudumbashree members have been invited abroad for a food festival. They had participated in the India International Trade Fair at Delhi on two occasions.

As part of the preparation for the food festivals, there was a performance enhancement programme for all the selected members and a team evaluation, said Tany Thomas, district officer, Kudumbashree. The festival in Dubai will begin on Thursday and will be on till Saturday. The food festival in Abu Dhabi was held from April 9 to 11.
