Activities to go on till June 28

As part of the preventive measures taken up by the district health authorities in association with local self-governments and other departments, an intensive campaign to control communicable diseases was started on Friday. This will be observed as a week-long campaign till June 28.

The observation of the weekly dry-day will be strengthened. The dry-day activities involve removing waste materials that hold stagnant water from neighbourhoods. Mosquito larvae will be destroyed by sprinkling kerosene on stagnant water. Fogging and spraying activities undertaken by health authorities will be intensified.

Students to take part

Students will be made part of the awareness campaign to control diseases. Ward-level health activities will be intensified with the help of health workers at PHCs, Kudumbasree activists and ASHA workers. Cleaning up activities will be taken up at school premises with the help of PTAs and chlorination of drinking water sources will also be done.

The district-level inauguration of the week-long activity was inaugurated on Friday at Kothamangalam Town UP School by District Panchayat President Eldhose Kunnapillil.

Kothamangalam Municipal chairman K. P. Babu presided over the function. Block panchayat president K. I. Jacob, V.V. Kurien, standing committee chairman (health), and other dignitaries participated. Kothamangalam Taluk superintendent held a class on the occasion.
