Failed economy, distressed farmers and job-less youth are the contribution of the four-year-long BJP rule in the country, actor and social activist Prakash Raj has said.

He was addressing a public meeting of democratic organisations with a slogan ‘Unity of democratic forces is the reply to fascism’ here on Saturday evening.

“I don’t consider BJP as a threat.... But the BJP showed that by gaining just 30% votes it can rewrite the fate of the country. It will take at least another 10 years to rectify the disaster done by the BJP to the country. If we let them to continue in power, it will take more time for the wound to heal. They disturbed the unity of the country,” he said.

Mr. Praksh Raj said corruption and communalism were the two major problems faced by the country. “We should recognise who is our enemy. More than the mass rallies, the small get-togethers of democratic forces can fight well against fascist forces.”

He said the BJP could not silence him. “I am well aware of my ways and thoughts. Don’t try to chase me. I will reach my goal faster. Don’t poison me. I will drink it and become all powerful Siva,” he said.

Writer and social activist Sara Joseph presided over the programme. Film actor Joy Mathew, social activist K. Venu, academic M.N. Karassery and others spoke.
