The Kerala Development Congress, organised by the Kerala Sasthra Sahithya Parishath (KSSP), called for alternative development models for the State.
Presenting the approach paper of the conference, KSSP State president N.K. Sasidharan Pillai said the present development patters didn’t address the issue of sustainability, equality and justice. The natural resources of the State were being looted by the corporates with the support of state agencies. Cultural degradation was visible in every walks of the Kerala society and gender discrimination and violence against women have become prevalent, he said.
The conference, attended by social activists, scientists, academicians and policy makers, called for public action to address the issue of cultural degradation in the State under the leadership of women.
The meeting will prepare an action programme under 14 themes. The organisers have planned 17 parallel seminars and 51 workshops at different venues in Maharajas College, Ernakulam.
