Education Minister M.A. Baby has said on Sunday that the State Cabinet would discuss necessary measures to be taken in schools in connection with the electrocution of a 12-year-old student, Fathima, at a school here on February 10.
Speaking to reporters after visiting the bereaved family and offering his condolences here on Sunday, Mr. Baby said a meeting at the District Collectorate here on Monday, under the chairmanship of the Collector, would decide on the immediate course of action.
It was necessary to ensure that such incidents were not repeated anywhere in the State, he said, adding that it was equally important to find who was guilty for the incident and to take stringent action.
Precautionary measures had to be given priority and the State Cabinet would discuss these when it met later this week.
The Minister also called for efforts from the public to ensure that the school, which was closed following the incident, re-opened and functioned without hassles. Municipal Chairman P.P. Chitharanjan
accompanied the Minister.
