A 17-year old school boy was crushed to death by a private bus in Kumarakom near here early on Thursday.
The police identified the deceased as Ashok R. Menon, a plus one student at the S.K.M. Higher Secondary School. He is the son of Reghunathamenon of the Reghumandiram house in Attipeedika.
According to the police, the accident occurred at around 7 a.m. at Attipeedika. Ashok was cycling towards his residence, when the bus that came from the opposite direction, ran over him. He was killed on the spot when a rear wheel of the bus went over his head.
The body was taken to the Kottayam Medical College hospital for conducting post-mortem and was later, handed over to his family.
A case has been registered against the driver of the bus, which was taken into custody.
