KOCHI: The Kerala State Bus Operators Co-ordination Committee (KBOCC) on Friday threatened to go on an indefinite strike from September 14 if the State government “continued to neglect” their demand for hiking the minimum fare to ₹9. The committee, comprising seven organisations of bus owners across the State, claims to represent nearly 80% of private buses.

T. Gopinathan, secretary, All Kerala Bus Operators Organisation, said operators had deliberately given the usual ploy of token strike a slip this time around, claiming that the government had in the past reneged on its promises multiple times after the operators dropped their indefinite strike plans.

KBOCC will go on an indefinite strike and will not take part in the token strike called for August 18 by some bus operators’ outfits, Mr. Gopinathan said.
