Bribe case against Inspector of Boats

May 18, 2010 06:53 pm | Updated 06:53 pm IST - ALAPPUZHA:

Vigilance officials raided the office of Inspector of Boats G. Sali here on Monday, and said an unaccounted sum of Rs. 33,000 was seized from him and an attender.

The raid, conducted from 1.30 p.m. to late in the evening, followed many complaints that bribes were being demanded and accepted at the office for issuing licences to houseboats. The Vigilance team, led by Deputy Superintendent of Police (Vigilance) James Joseph, said since Sali and the attender could not produce documents to account it, the money had to be considered as bribe.
