Boys rescued from drowning

April 17, 2012 01:19 pm | Updated 01:19 pm IST - KOCHI:

Two boys were rescued from drowning in the sea at Fort Kochi on Monday morning. Hadlin Rodrigues and Christian Antony, both 15 years of age, from Mundamveli, went into the sea by around 8 a.m. and were swept off by a tide.

Suresh P.J., K.J. Sergen and C.A. Dennis, the three life guards present on the beach rescued the boys and took them to Fort Kochi police station. The boys were administered first-aid and later handed over to their families.

It has been pointed out that the tidal patterns have changed slightly after the recent tremors and changes in the sea bed and rock formations have altered the nature of undercurrents.

This was the second instance after the summer vacation began.

A mother and child were saved last week from the same spot, said the life guards.
