CPI(M) Central committee member E. P. Jayarajan released the book, ‘Vanitha Pathrapravarthanam: Charithravum Varthamanavum', published by the Kerala Sahitya Akademi at a function here on Wednesday.

The book, written by A. Krishnakumari, documents the history, role and status of women journalists in Malayalam.

“As a maiden attempt in this direction, the book deserves appreciation. Its second edition should explore aspects of the subject that have been ignored so far,” Mr. Jayarajan said.

Kerala Sahitya Akademi secretary Purushan Kadalundi, writer Kavumbai Balakrishnan were present on the occasion.
