With Bastion Bungalow all set to become a museum of archaeological relics, Fort Kochi can add one more to its list of places to visit.
This was decided at a meeting convened here recently following the visit of Minister for Culture K.C. Joseph. In the backdrop of concerns about crass commercialisation dampening tourist inflow to Fort Kochi and adjacent Mattanchery, culture and tourism stakeholders also probed ways to attract more tourists to the twin towns.
The upkeep of Dutch Palace and a few other age-old historical structures in the region too were discussed.
Said to have been built in 1667, Bastion Bungalow got its name due to its location on a Dutch bastion in Fort Kochi. The building blends beautifully into the circular structure of the bastion and has a tiled roof.
