B.A. student wins poetry award

P. Jimshar, a student of the B.A. Journalism course at the Minority Arts and Science College, Palakkad, has won the first prize in the Ayyappa Panickar Memorial Inter-University Poetry Awards 2010. P.J. Jayadevan of Nehru College of Engineering and Research Centre, Thrissur, and S.R. Aswathy Raj of K.K.T.M. Government College, Kodungalloor, have secured the second and third positions respectively.

The winners of the top three positions will be awarded cash prizes of Rs. 3,000, Rs. 2,000 and Rs. 1,000 respectively, besides certificates, at a function to be organised here later in the month.

The Department of Printing and Publishing of Mahatma Gandhi University had organised a competition to select the winners. As many as 100 students from various university departments and colleges affiliated to the universities in the State participated in the competition.

The jury comprised P.P. Raveendran, D. Vinayachandran and V.M. Girija.
