The Trained Nurses Association of India (TNAI) has said that the Protector General of Emigrants under the Union Ministry of External Affairs has authorised the Association to act as a recruiting agency to send Indian nurses abroad.

The TNAI works for the welfare of nurses, and getting authorised to recruit and place abroad Indian nurses will end the era of exploitation of nurses by unauthorised agencies, said a statement issued by TNAI here on Wednesday. The statement issued by Anita Deodhar, president, and Evelyn P. Kannan, secretary general, said TNAI had a total of 4,00,000 members under its wings.
