ASA meet begins

The two-day Alumni Societies of Association of Overseas Technical Scholarship (ASA) convention got underway here on Saturday. It was inaugurated by Vice-Admiral Sunil Lanba at the Bolghatty Palace Resort.

Delegates from Japan, India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Egypt are participating in the convention, said a press release here.

Hidehiro Ishiura, chief director, Japan External Trade Organisation, who spoke at the inaugural function, said the number of Japanese companies in India had crossed 4,000. “Recently there had been commendable increase in the number”, he was cited as saying.

A youth leadership workshop and an SME to SME meet are also part of the programme, said the press release.
