Government Chief Whip P.C. George has alleged that the money of the underworld gang lord Dawood Ibrahim was flowing through the State.
Talking to reporters at Charalkunnu near Kozhencherry here on Tuesday, Mr. George said certain political leaders and land mafia had been utilising this money. He called for a detailed investigation by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) into the matter. He said a probe by the NIA would expose the source of money of certain CPI(M) leaders too.
Mr. George alleged that the so-called ‘Kannur lobby' in the CPI(M) was a league of the accursed in the party and the land mafia. This lobby was destroying the democratic traits of the party itself, he alleged. “The day is not that far when sincere party workers will turn against the leadership as a fireball,” Mr. George said. The CPI(M) should be reconstituted under the leadership of Leader of the Opposition V.S. Achuthanandan so that the State would, at least, have a good Opposition, he said.
