Applications invited for free courses by engg. college

Applications have been invited to the free courses being offered by the Thrikkakara Model Engineering College under the Union government’s national urban livelihood mission programme.

The courses being offered include web designing and publishing assistant. Those who have passed class 10 can apply for the course. Those who have completed 14 years and have passed Class 8 can apply for courses either in Electrician - domestic or Electronics Technician, said a press release here.

The applicants should be BPL card holders or either members or dependants of Kudumbasree, said the press release. The others must produce, along with their applications, income certificates issued by village officers for those with annual income up to ₹50,000. The applicants must also be permanent residents of either corporations or municipalities in Kerala.

The press release also said that candidates will be provided free food and accommodation depending on the distance they have to cover to attend the classes. The courses will be conducted by the Model Finishing School operating out of the Kaloor international stadium, which is affiliated to the Model Engineering College. The other affiliated institution is the IHRD Regional Centre, which is close to the Edappally Government Higher Secondary School.

Applications can also be sent for courses such as Postgraduate Diploma in Embedded Systems Design Course, Certificate Course in Dental Assistance, Certificate Course in Accreditation and Certification in Health Care Organisations, Certificate Course in Autocad, Certificate Course in Java Android Programming and Diploma in Computer Applications.

Those who have passed M.Tech. and M.Sc. can apply for the Postgraduate Diploma in Embedded Systems Design Course, which will be conducted at the Model Finishing School in Kaloor, and at the Thiruvananthapuram Model Finishing School, the press release added.
