November 10, 2009 06:21 pm | Updated 06:21 pm IST - KOCHI:

In the sixth such crime committed in the city during recent times, one more person was murdered while sleeping on the pavement.

The person identified as Rajan, also known as Thakara, and believed to be around 55 years, used to sleep in front of the shops at Market Road. He helped in the unloading of trucks coming to the market. The workers who came to the market on Tuesday morning found the man murdered. His head was found crushed by a boulder.

A rag-picker was found murdered in a similar manner, when he was sleeping in front of a shop behind the Sridhar Theatre, in the last week of August.

The City Police had arrested a person with a history of mental disturbance on charges of a similar murder at Palarivattom before the murder in August.
