An accused, absconding in 2003 Marad communal riots that claimed the lives of nine people, was today taken into custody, police said.
Immigration authorities took 28-year-old Nizamuddin into custody as he landed here after returning from Doha.
He has been handed over to Nedumbassery police and would be handed over to Kozhikode crime branch, police said.
A Look Out notice had been issued against him after he went absconding following the riots.
Marad, a coastal fishing village in Kozhikode, was rocked by communal riots in which nine persons were killed in May 2003.
Earlier, in January 2002, in a similar case, five persons were killed and many others were injured.
