Salim Ahmed, the maker of ‘Adaminte Makan Abu,’ has roped in Resul Pookutty for the sound recording of his new project ‘Kunjanandante Kada’ (Kunjanandan’s shop).
Announcing his new film at a press meet here on Tuesday, Mr. Ahmed said that though Mammootty would play the title role of the film, Salim Kumar, the protagonist in his earlier film, would play a key character. The female lead is yet to be fixed.
Speaking on the subject, Mr. Pookutty said it has been a learning and inspiring experience ever since he associated himself with Mr. Ahmed for promoting the film ‘Adaminte Makan Abu’ at the Oscars.
Mr.Ahmed said Mr. Pookutty’s association with the new film would be boost, as a major criticism about his previous film was on the quality of the sound. The film with the background of a Kannur village will be the story of a husband and wife who never get along. But it will have a larger context and would be a comment on the current society. “I’m sure there will be people who will oppose the film, but the film will carry a social message”, said Mr. Ahmed.
As for Mammootty speaking a new slang in Malayalam in his film, Mr. Ahmed said it would not be a difficult task as he believes the actor has an ear for languages.
The shooting for the film under the banner of Allans Media will begin in December in Palakkad. Noted cameraman Madhu Ambat, who is part of the project, spoke.
Jyothish Sankar will be the art director and Pattanam Rashid will be the makeup man.
