The programme was organised by Lisie Hospital, Mrithasanjeevani, the government’s project to promote organ donation and transplant through Kerala Network for Organ Sharing (KNOS), and Cardiological Society of India, Kerala chapter.

Noble Gravious, KNOS nodal officer held a brief session and clarified doubts raised by students on organ donation. Cardiac surgeon Jose Chacko Periapuram led the programme.

M. R. Girinath, cardiac surgeon from Chennai, was honoured with Lifetime Achievement Award in health care for the year. Former judge of the Supreme Court Justice Cyriac Joseph gave away the award.

A class was held for heart patients and their families followed by an interactive session that helped clear many doubts on leading a normal life after cardiac surgery. A painting competition was also held.

District Collector P. I. Sheikh Pareeth said that for a good heart one needed to have a good mind.

He inaugurated the World Heart Day programmes of the Lions Club District 318 by flagging off a walkathon from Marine Drive.
