District Collector T. Bhaskaran has said that a 24-hour control room will function from Friday in Peerumade taluk to facilitate the peaceful darshan of Makaravilakku for Sabarimala pilgrims.

He said that pilgrims will get timely advice from the control room which will function at the Manjumala village office. The control room will be headed by the assistant cardamom settlement officer and officials will be drawn from different village offices. If complaints raised by the pilgrims were not met in time at the taluk-level, they could inform the District Collector, sub-collector or assistant district magistrate, he said.

The Collector said that a register should be maintained at the control room, with complaints and details of action taken by the authorities. The Peerumade tehsildar will also submit a daily report to the Collector. The helpline will function till January 15. The phone numbers are 04869 253362, 8547612910.
