In all, 1,223 recruit constables of the Malabar Special Police (MSP) and Kerala Armed Police Battalions (KAP) I, II and V on Thursday passed out from the Kerala Police Academy here.
Addressing their passing-out parade, Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan said that a highly educated workforce was expected to change the functioning of the police department.
“About half of the constables who are passing out today are graduates. The new recruits include 78 postgraduates and two law graduates. There are two post-graduates in business management and three in computer applications. The new recruits should not ape some of their seniors who bring shame on the police department,” he added.
He presented prizes to toppers in the training programme -- A. J. Renil (KAP II), Basil Paul (KAP I), K. G. Jithin, K. T. Deepu (KAP I), Robin George (KAP I), Anil Raj (KAP V), Joshy Francis (KAP V) and Robin George (KAP I).
