Three persons were arrested with 10 kg of ganja from Choondi near Aluva on Wednesday.
The accused were travelling in a car from Idukki to Ernakulam when police detained them and found five large packets of ganja in the vehicle. Anoop, 20, of Kallarkutty in Idukki, Vinu, 26, of Idukki, and Omana, 48, of Idukki, were arrested with the drug. “We had been tracking the accused for a few days following information that they were selling drugs.
They are wholesale suppliers of ganja who deal in quantities of 5 kg or more,” said Ernakulam Rural District Police chief S. Sateesh Bino. The accused allegedly operated under the cover of a travel agency to bring large quantities of ganja to the district.
The substance was to be sold to other dealers, who sorted the ganja into small packets and sold it to end users.
Police are questioning the trio to find the source of the substance and their accomplices involved in procuring and selling the drugs.
