Youths roaming past midnight taken into custody

Cracking the whip against those roaming on the roads post midnight in the Old City areas, the South Zone police took 162 youths, including 15 minors, into custody during the ‘Chabutra’ operation conducted between 1 a.m. and 3 a.m. on Wednesday. They were later counselled along with their parents by the police.

According to V. Satyanarayana, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), south zone, 25 teams were formed for the operation, and youngsters roaming on the streets were picked up in the areas of Charminar, Khilwath Teegalkunta, Jangammet, Engine Bowli, Chandrayangutta, Talabkatta. They were found causing disturbances in localities, forming groups and getting involved in petty crimes, he added.

In a separate ‘Cordon and Search’ operation conducted in the North Zone police limits headed by DCP B. Sumathi, officials took 35 persons with ‘suspect’ contacts into custody and seized 40 vehicles under the Tukaram Gate PS limits. A total of of 490 houses were searched at Addagutta along with the help of about 100 community members, said Ms. Sumathi in a press release on Tuesday.

Held on cheating charge

A distributor was arrested by the Central Crime Station (CCS) police for conspiring with two of his partners and cheating manufacturers by purchasing goods on credit and then not paying them. The accused was identified as Vishal Agarwal, who was running VK Agencies at Feelkhana in Begum Bazar along with two others named Sunil Kumar Agarwal and Anand Kumar Goel.

According to the complaint lodged by Sanjay Kumar Mulage, manager of Maniyar Refinery Pvt. Ltd., the trio had cheated his company and six others by purchasing pulses, edible oils and other goods worth huge amounts, without making payments. Investigations by the CCS officials also showed that the trio had cheated people of more than ₹1 crore that way.

Jail for brothel organiser

The organiser of a brothel was sentenced to two years’ of imprisonment and was also penalised with a fine of ₹ 2,000 in a case booked against him for running a prostitution racket under the Punjagutta police station (PS) in 2007. The accused, S. Nageswar Reddy, was convicted by a Special Judicial Magistrate of First Class (Excise), Erramanzil.

Man arrested for forging documents

Officials of the Central Crime Station (CCS) arrested a man for forging documents and using them to create a fake sale deed for securing a housing loan of ₹ 96 lakh from the Punjab and Sindh Bank in Secunderabad.

The accused, A. Venkata Madhuresh, had signed and created documents stating that he was the legal heir of one Laxmi Kumari, at the behest of two others Agnivesh Reddy and N. Rajnikanth, who paid him ₹1 lakh for it.

The two used Madhuresh to create fake sale deeds of properties in Teegalaguda village. They created fake ID cards for Madhuresh, after which they forged documents related to the property, said a press release from the CCS on Wednesday.
