A 22-year-old youth was apprehended on Tuesday for allegedly sexually harassing a minor girl. The Neredmet police identified the accused as Sai Praneeth, who is a degree student. Despite her age, the accused was allegedly harassing her under the guise of ‘love’.
Police said the accused was making advances at the minor girl for a fortnight and was allegedly sending her messages.
The victim’s parents lodged a complaint with the Neredment police after which the accused was arrested.
Based on the complaint, a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act has been booked against the accused.
History-sheeter injured
A person, with criminal antecedents as per police records, was injured on Tuesday after two of his alleged accomplices tried to set fire to a shop containing a large number of electrical items, police said on Tuesday.
It was around 4.30 p.m. that Naveen Yadav, identified as history-sheeter, in the records of Alwal police, and his accomplices Suman and Praveen went to a shop in Alwal area and allegedly tried to set it ablaze. Due to the burning of electrical items in the shop, a blast threw Mr. Yadav away from the shop and he sustained injuries.
Police are analysing available CCTV footage.
