Youth allegedly rapes 70-year-old

A septuagenarian woman was allegedly raped in her house on Monday in the Mailardevpally Police Station limits.

The police identified the accused as Vamshi (21), a resident of Padmashalipuram and a seasonal autorickshaw driver.

According to Mailardevpally inspector P. Jagadeeshwar, the incident took place between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. He said that the victim is around 77-years old.

“The victim was sitting outside her room and the accused started talking to her. When he found out that she was alone, he entered her room. The accused was in a drunken condition,” he said.

The victim lodged a complaint with the police around 5 p.m. on Monday A rape and attempt to murder case has been filed against the accused who is absconding.

“We have formed a team to apprehend the accused. The investigation is ongoing,” Mr. Jagadeeshwar said.
